What we needAccording to Feeding America, food insecurity may impact up to 42 million people in the United States as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. The purpose of this application is to provide reliable last mile food delivery options to partner organizations (food banks, food pantries, etc) to help distribute food to their communities. The platform schedules delivery drivers (Uber, Lyft, volunteers) to pick up goods from a pickup site at predefined times for delivery to community members who need food. Most of the necessary stack is already established. We’re using Firebase’s services for most of the above. In addition, we’re using Google Cloud Functions (through Firebase SDK) for backend. There is no “backend server” just the Cloud Functions, which functions similar to AWS Lambda. 1. Domain: Helpinghands.community 2. Database: Firebase Cloud Firestore. 3. File storage: Firebase Storage 4. We’re using Firebase CLI/SDK for deployments and authentication 5. Firebase Hosting
